I am utterly lucky to have you!

My sister

As I promenade to the memories that we share;
I might be far, but my heart carries you all the way.
Thank you for the kindness that you continue to give;
You are an integral part of my great life.
In times of my happiness, you cherish with joy.
When I am down; ever more, it is you that I count on,
Going back to the path that we passed;
Not so long ago, outside forces tend to tear us apart.
They can try all they can, but, will succeed not;
For we are blood sisters bonded with our souls.
All my worries disappear when you are around;
In your absence, I remember the good old days.
In the gloomy moment, you make me laugh;
In the sparkling of the sun, the more you shine.
You have given me love to your best; such an inspiration, indeed.
Beneath the façade of the faces that we know;
Your impressions fronting the inside is home to me.
In the midst of the tangible twists, you smile.
Unconditional love we bestow lightens our way.
On your special day, you deserve the ultimate gift.
From your younger sister, you spoilt from the start.
The absolute love untarnished through the years.
Though, you have heard it many times before;

Happy Birthday my beautiful and sweetest sister!

You are a gem – a present from High Above
May your dreams from the present and the past;
Become real for you are worthy of the very best.

Bright coloured

dress;

like a princess, I wear

to a ball in the bay.

The moonlight flatters

every piece of the necklace

on my neck – lustre

that hangs on my chest.

South sea pearls

from the Island of Tahiti.

Thoughts on my head;

beyond the horizon

comes back – priceless

memories I cherish.

My love and I will meet

tonight in the inlet.

Treasuring the moment

of the divine passion will

happen – romancing

under the glimmers

in a tropical setting.

Drinking coconut

cocktails with a dash

of magic will delight

my sweetheart.

The splashes

of the sea brought

by the breeze – moving

the universal gift;

epitome of the

goddess of beauty.

My darling is here;

flowers he brings

reaching – my

hands as he kneels

down, asking, will

you marry me?

I’M HOME

I’M HOME

It has been two months since  I came back to live in Darwin, Northern Territory. I have been away for four years. Going back to where I spent my life for more than half of my age was indeed exciting. I have my family and friends around. Four years ago, vividly, I recollect that I travelled to Kalgoorlie, Western Australia to live. It was daunting, but, it was the choice I made. For all good reasons, the wilderness of the Western Australian desert has given me a different perspective in life. That is where I began to write again. I have the greatest inspiration that I needed to go back to the world of Creative Writing. However, after two months, I moved again to a different state, Queensland. The kind people and the surroundings enhance the totality  of my inspirations to inscribe.

Recollecting few of my journals inscribed on the days I was free. Pressing each button on my computer to finish my manuscript, an everyday scene. My nails got so much longer as days gone. No more going out of the house to work outside my sphere. Totally, I went back to Creative Writing; the world of storytelling of the characters I created.

At first, publishing a novel was just to fulfil my aim to have a book. It does not matter whether I do not earn from it. I don’t think about the monetary aspect when I inscribe. I love to write. That is the most important thing. But, remember, writers have to eat and pay the bills as well, just like any other human being. Some struggle to get by; working few jobs and also write. I am lucky enough, that when I went back to Creative Writing, I have already passed the challenges in life. However, my intention of publishing again is not in my cup of tea anymore. I am not a business woman. I am a writer. I cannot hold to the stress of the business side of it. I want to write, and I love to write. That is my aim. And for me to accomplish that; I have to concentrate. In whatever you choose to do, you must be able to recognise your strength. Do not even try to sway yourself to use your weakness. Instead, work and develop your strongest side. God has given you the tool. It is up to you to make it happen.

The happiness that I have achieved in writing is words undescribed. The materialisation of the characters adhered to the tangibility of time immortalised. Any dream is possible to get if one works hard to achieve it. Nothing is impossible under the sun and more so, in the heat of your longing to the work you love. Regardless of the challenges ahead and the hurdles that you must jump, always remember, God has given you the power and strength to pass those upheavals.

THE LEAP YEAR

29 Monday Feb 2016

Leap Year! Every four years, we got an additional day on the calendar. To those born on this day, Happy Birthday! May you have the happiest day! For this particular time comes a special moment to people who can actually celebrate their real natal date, February 29. It is indeed overwhelming to the celebrants. When I was a little girl, I asked my grandmother why it was called a leap year. She gave me an example; if my birthday last year were on Thursday, the next one is not a Friday but Saturday; it leaps, that’s why it’s called a leap year. Normally, if not a leap year, it would be the next day. Is it true that the earth rotates 365 days in a year? According to the measurement from the March equinox ‒ called the tropical year, to complete the circle of the earth to the sun, 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes and 45 seconds needed. The Gregorian calendar of which we use only has 365 – called the common year but must add another day to compensate for the hours lost for the last three years. Plus the time on the fourth, which totals less than twenty-four hours but considered a day added to the shortest month, February ‒ called the leap year. Otherwise, in the years ahead, the months would be shorter. There are also leap years in different calendars like Chinese, Hebrews and few others. I get utterly excited every leap year; it gives me an additional day to make my day truly happy, happens once in four years.

I bet, it is not only me who gets excited about the leap year, but there are many. It is indeed incredible to think that many people get thrilled. Hang on, human beings get the delight with the combinations of the days in a month as well; I received many in Facebook about it. It says, something like after so many years, it happens that the combinations of 5 Sundays, 5 Saturdays and so on and so forth. But really, as a child, I looked at the calendar very often. One of the reasons: to check the dates of the feast of Patron Saints. I love festivals; even now. My parents made sure that we celebrate the Fiesta where we lived, visitors will come. Plenty of food on the table. But, some of the Fiestas do not have the exact date but celebrated either first or third Sunday of the month. I can vividly remember that I came across 5 Sundays in January not once. The Feast of the Patron Saint where I lived when I was a child always falls in the third week of January. I checked the calendar and saw 5 five Sundays and 5 Mondays and 5 Saturdays in January of 1966. August of 1969 had 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays. Try to go back to the calendar of years gone by. We all encountered few combinations of 5 Sundays, five Mondays and so forth, in this lifetime. Therefore, combinations of different days, not unusual. But, I must say that every time I see more Sundays in a month, my excitement prevails; I don’t know the reason. I also consider leap year as special. To celebrate this day, I wrote a poem. HAPPY LEAP YEAR TO ALL! May this day bring us all happiness and good luck!

ADDED BLISS

BY: VIRGINIA CLOSE

The Universe decides to give extra hours for fun;

For me to jet from one quasar to another and from stars to stars.

The sun smiles gladly and shines to the maximum depth.

The moon adheres to the wants of my giggling.

The extra revolution of the earth makes my heart jumps way up high;

Like quantum leaping to the meadows full of love.

The green pastures caress me right to the bones;

To my soul, a tangible bliss of fortune.

My spirit soars to the heavenly biomorphic constellation;

Singing and dancing to the nymphs who flew from Neverland.

The saga of my Dreamland adheres to the beautiful scene.

In the whole quest of happiness, needless to say;

Tears of joy as I enjoy the beauty of the day.

Does not matter where I am as long as I am with my darling.

We both can assure that this day is an extra day of loving;

That we share through the days as long as we can.

HAPPY LEAP YEAR TO ALL!

Make the best of this day however you can;

For the next four years is far away.

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!

Love is sweeter when naturally ripens.

It is an exciting month – February; time for love, romance, roses and chocolates to mention a few. Since I was young, Valentine’s day has been celebrated even at school. As early as kindergarten, I can recall that my teacher will help me make few Valentine cards for my parents and friends. Where does Valentine Day come? Many myths I read about it. According to the legend, it started in the Roman pagan festival, the Feast of Lupercalia, goddess of fertility. But why name the February 14 as the Valentine’s Day if it is so?

The Roman Catholic Church celebrated the Feast of Saint Valentine for many years but removed in the General Roman Calendar in 1969 ‒ one of the casualties in the revision. The reason; Saint Valentine had so little known factual – except February 14 was the day of his burial. Albeit removed Saint Valentine; he has a place in the Roman Martyrology. What has Cupid got to do with Valentine? According to the Roman Mythology, Cupid, the son of Venus was a winged boy and mischievous smiles. Cupid has a bow and arrow and whoever he strikes will not die but fall in love.

I chose to believe that Valentine Day comes from Saint Valentine, and I would not argue that this saint has a place in my heart. I will forever think that this human being gave love and devotion tested through times. For he made me feel and will forever remind me that February 14 is the day for love – to give importance to my dearest one. It is the day I celebrate each year not only to receive roses, box of chocolates, lovely greeting card, romantic dinner with champagne and caviar. But to take into account that the man who won my heart entwined with his. In return for all his good deeds, I will forever cherish and value the passion that I accept. Oh! Valentine’s Day, I welcome you every day!

I dedicate this poem to all the woman who are in love and to those who aren’t yet. It is never too late, love is just around the bend. HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY TO ALL!

 MY ADONIS

BY: VIRGINIA CLOSE

Beautiful day came to my life;

A man fetching as can be.

Vision of my dream every night;

Handsome as Adonis to cherish me

The smiles he brings is heaven;

Caresses my soul within.

I adore his charm and poise;

His gentle hands repose.

The kisses that he gives;

Twinkles the stars above

Touch of the celestial perceive;

In him, I found the love.

My love everlasting is immortal;

The stellar and all the constellation agree.

With feelings of deception, that will never be.

The purest of my love is all I give to thee.

My breath will cease to stop someday;

My body will leave this earth for sure.

With the soil, it will break into pieces,

Thus, blend with earthen loam.

Although my body is not present

My spirit will still linger;

My love is perpetual and undying.

In heaven, we shall meet again.

THE SISTERS

virginiaclose.com (2)

In the memories of my youth, I was brought up in a loving household. I have two older brothers, two older sisters and the youngest girl was born when I was thirteen years old. Therefore, I was spoilt by the rest of the family for a long time. Like any sisters, we have good times and fights. Not all household are perfect. Every family has ups and downs and it is not unusual for siblings to have misunderstandings here and there. Do not let the worries get in the way. More so, let no other being interfere. More often than usual, the outsiders are the stirrer of the pot. Instead, make your challenges as tools to end the day brighter. Sisters grow up in poles apart paths as they get older. In teenage years, one may focus on studies, the other one may fall in love at a very young age. The older ones become the role model and are there to guide the youngers. But whatever happens in the future, blood sisters are there to hold each other’s hands in times of happiness and grief. To the transit of the cosmos; albeit, they will walk on the different roads, the happy thoughts will be given to their children. As a result, cousins become closer and family developes a stronger bond. When I was in Manchester, United Kingdom last year, I watched my two friends who are sisters as they chortled. My two sisters had been called to heaven some time ago and one is living in Australia. I missed all my sisters but life goes on and at that moment, wished that I was with my siblings talking and laughing. It was wintertime when I inscribed this poetry, freezing cold. However, my heart was filled with joy as I recollected my happy days with my female siblings. To all the sisters, I wish you all find the time to laugh and giggle together. For life can only be better if we have the sisters to talk about the gets in life, reminisce the happy thoughts and share the joy.

THE SISTERS

BY: VIRGINIA CLOSE

As they laugh to the wiggle of the scene;

The sisters talk all day long about the

memories of theirdreams.

It does not matter if they had seen each

other yesterday. When they’re together,

everything looks so gay. In the coldness

of the day, they will cheer. To the warm

summer day, they will splash in the bay.

They exchange the bright sides of the clay;

gets in life, thoughts of love and their jobs.

As their memories said and the future

is ahead;  Never mind through it all, they

are sisters ever more. They may have troubles,

but, they will be gone; for they are connected

to their hearts. Mysteries in the kilt, they

will snigger. Newish mammoth in the realm

of the day. Along in the forlorn of the hay is

none existence. Older sister will lead to the

beauty soft and flair. Pallets in the dreary storm,

never mind. The young female sibling will not

get scared; for her sister will hold her hand to

pass the way. All, they want, is to bestow the

thoughts so refine; songs of love will spread

in the sky. Sisters are born to cheer each other;

to the tic of their hearts; in the greatest of the

jiffy, and more so in bad time.
